Pink & Polka Dots

I feel like this is a good casual Valentines Day outfit. You've got the bright, festive pink and the fun polka dot skirt, all toned down with the denim jacket. When I was thinking about this outfit, I thought I should save it until closer to Valentines Day but I couldn't wait. I really wanted to wear it. Today. For some reason. Do you ever get those feelings where you think of an outfit and just can't wait to wear it. It is the worst when you think of a summer outfit in the middle of winter. You know what I mean?

Sunsets & A Giveaway!

I think this might be the first time I have taken pictures at sunset. I usually get them done first thing in the morning, then I can carry on with my day. I guess I don't like waiting around for it and worry about if it will start raining or not. Or maybe its cloudy all the time so we don't get sun like this very often. I think that might change now after seeing how these turned out. The light is amazing. But that might not happen for awhile. Rain in the forecast…

Now for the giveaway! Im co-hosting a fitness giveaway over on Brittneys blog True Vintage Love. Head on over to be included in the giveaway. There will be THREE winners!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Anybody else love The Sound of Music as much as I do? Anyways, these are just a couple of things I have been loving lately.
This dress I got from Rome. Its gorgeous. It has been hanging on my wall since I got home and when the light hits is just right it sparkles. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, its kind of fragile and snags on things but one day.
This box of postcards I got from Modcloth. All old educational posters from 50s and 60s I believe. Also in french. They are so fun to look at.
Flower seeds! Hopefully I will get the greenhouse cleaned in time! I've started, so thats a plus. I ordered these Territorial Seed Company online. You can't find the unusual flower seeds in stores so I resort to the internet. I like to request the free seed catalog and sit and look at it and daydream. Its the best.
I am loving EVERYTHING woodland right now. I hope that love doesn't go away anytime soon. Add twinkle lights and that just takes this love to a whole new level.

Explore the Great PNW

I do love a good gloomy day in the Northwest. Odd I know. Sunny days are good too, but I love the fog and the way the trees look in it. Slowly disappearing as they get farther and farther away from you. This outfit is basic but I love it so much. It evokes that Northwest vibe, with the lumberjack plaid and this amazing shirt from The Great PNW. The perfect outfit for exploring the Great Pacific Northwest on those gloomy, foggy days.

Handwritten Letters

If you remember from this post, one of my goals for this year is to write more handwritten letters and postcards and send them the old fashioned way, through the mail! This is an art, yes art, that is going out of style. However I have been seeing so many bloggers write posts like this and setting up link ups and matching people up with pen pals, it has been unreal! So maybe this art isn't going anywhere just yet. That is if we have anything to say about it.

The Fun Part
  • Writing letters is fun, because it is fun getting stuff in the mail! I don't know anyone who doesn't love getting a package or a little handwritten envelope with their name on it. Much better than getting a Facebook message or an email.
  • I know there are a lot of people out there, including me sometimes, who wish they lived in an earlier time period. Writing letters and postcards is reminiscent of the old times. If you can't live back then, you can at least do some of what they did.
  • Letters and postcards are something that you can hold on to, keep and look back on when you are older. A couple of years ago, my grandma was looking through an old suitcase filled with her old pictures and letters my grandpa had written to her way back when. She read them and was immediately taken back to that time. Who doesn't want that?
  • There are so many different types of stationery and postcards to choose from that you can really make it personal to the person you are writing to. I have really been wanting some personalized stationery for the longest time! It just sounds so professional, you know? Tiny Prints is perfect for this. They have so many different designs and styles to choose from. All of them customizable with either your full name, initials or even pictures on some of them. Pretty neat huh?

Where to get the Pretty Writing Material
  • Tiny Prints! They really have so much stuff to look at. There are so many cards to choose from and personalize with your name and even pictures.
  • Modcloth has this really awesome box of postcards. I also have my eye on these
  • I love these, these and these from Rifle Paper Co.

Getting Organized
  • To keep all of your supplies in one place, it would be a good idea to get a box to store everything like stamps, pens, cute ribbon or tape. You know. That sort of stuff.
  • It would also be a good idea to get a notebook or address book to keep all of your collected addresses in one spot. I have my eye on this one and this one from Tiny Prints.
Thanks for reading and I hope this inspires you to write more letters! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to write some myself.

1 Year!

Today is my one year blog anniversary! I know I have said this so many times but I am so glad I started this blog one year ago. I remember when I posted that first post, I just decided to go for it and stop thinking about it and waiting for that perfect moment. Sometimes you just have to do it. If you are wanting to start one but waiting for the perfect layout or the right camera, stop waiting and just start. I was so happy I did. Thank you all so much for reading what I have to say and commenting. I really love reading and appreciate all of the comments you guys leave. Thank you guys so so so much! Here's to another year!

Expect More

Something different I am doing this year with this blog is planning more in advance my posts. I really didn't plan at all last year and when I took pictures would be when my next post would be. But this year I got myself a planner and a brand new journal. Aren't new journals just the best? Anyways, one day I sat down and planned out the entire month of January. Holy cow. Why didn't I do this earlier? I am finding my posts coming up having much more substance and thought put into them. Now I am carrying around this journal everywhere I go and whenever I have the time, start jotting down notes and ideas for upcoming posts. Its been the best. Expect a lot more from this blog this year.
